Writing Tip #1 – Inspiration
A lot of writers struggle so hard with trying to fill blanks pages with random words and generic storylines, but they can make the ultimate mistake in writing and that is NOT drawing on the passion. As a writer, you are equipped with words that draw and describe an event or story to aid in our imagination. But where do you get your inspiration?
It comes from different places from people, but be sure it’s something your passionate about and you are able to describe thoroughly so our imaginations can latch on to the thought and run wild with it.
Another good key rule in writing is not to force it. If you aren’t feeling up to writing, most likely your work at that time won’t amount to anything. If you need a break then, please, don’t strain yourself. Take a day or two off and relax.
Writing Tip #2 – Critique
This is something I always see. Critique your work and ask yourself if it’s believable. Does the story flow like it should? Did you over word it? Etc etc. Don’t be afraid to ask a friend to read it and see what their take on your story is. You won’t get it perfect on the first go, that’s why it’s called a rough draft. It means there is room for improvement.
Writing tip #3 – Characters
Every good story has them and yours should too! Try to figure out how many characters you want to highlight in your story and maybe make an outline of all their quirks and personality traits. If your stumped on how to do this, look at some role-playing games on character creation, that’s how I learned to make unique characters.
